Let me tell you all about how to use zoom in the bedroom!
I totally get it, you're working from home. You’re thinking, where in the world do I have my video meeting and/or record my video? I mean, your bedroom is the quietest spot there is, right? So, you’re probably gonna find your nightstand or dresser to put your computer on...but the problem is that your bed is gonna be in the background.

Then it’s just kind of awkward like inviting your students, customers, or colleagues into your bedroom. I know creepy... So here's what to do instead!
First thing you want to do is open up all your windows in the bedroom and let in as much sunlight as you can inside.
Next, enter the laundry basket and put that baby right on top of your bed. (The dog is optional. LOL)
Next, grab your laptop and place it on top of that laundry basket.
Now, it’s not super obvious you’re in your bedroom and there’s no bed in sight. Instead you’re enjoying your super comfy bed and you can totally change into pajamas, at least on the bottom. I like to say professional on top, pajama party on the bottom.
Okay so what if you need your actual desk in your bedroom and put your home office in your bedroom? This is what we did for my husband since he had to do that.
First, we put his desk in front of a window and that way when he’s on zoom calls, Microsoft teams or Google hangouts, all that stuff, he looks good. If the sun gets a little too bright, you can just close the shutters. I gave him one of my softboxes so he can bounce the light off of that bright light.
And to avoid this up the nose shot and the random bathrobe shot in the background, we have a laptop stand that you can put it up on. It's now eye level and it’s angled so that you can’t see the bathrobe lady. (That’s me. LOL)
We also changed up his background. First up, we had a lovely floral picture up but it just looked way too girly for his taste, and he was a little embarrassed to meet with his guy coworkers so we put a different picture up instead. Then an alarm clock and a beautiful wedding photo of us just kind of gave it away that he was in a bedroom. So, I gave him a plant to put there instead and that way it isn’t like a dead give away that he’s in a bedroom.
