Hey guys! Wait...let me greet you the Nashville way: Hey y’all! I attended the Business Boutique Conference in 2018 with my sister and best friend. It was the BEST business conference I've been to!
The awesome Christy Wright, creator and founder of Business Boutique, equips women to make money doing what they love. And to say that I’m smarter, inspired, closer to God and on fire to make a positive impact in this world is 100% accurate. I am so excited to share with you my top 7 takeaways from the event!
Watch the video below to see this in action!
#1 Do it Scared
Christy Wright said this, ”fear does not mean you’re doing something bad. It means you’re doing something bold." You know, so often we think about what will happen if we fail. But instead, we need to think about what will happen if we get it right. Doing it scared applies to all aspects of our lives and the more we do it scared, the more momentum we’ll have to keep going for it.
#2 You don’t have time, you make time
Some tips that I learned at the Business Boutique Conference is to be intentional of what you spend time on. Make sure and prioritize what's important that'll help you reach your goals.
Another tip is to batch similar things together when you're working. For example, if you’re making videos for your business, try to make a couple videos at the same time. So spend time writing and outlining your videos, then maybe the next day, film your videos back to back. It's a lot easier on your brain when you can focus on one type of action rather than switching back and forth all the time.
#3 Your business must solve a problem
Christy Wright had a whole presentation on this, and it was so good! There are two types of problems: External and Internal.
The external problem is kinda the obvious thing. For example, the external problem that I solve is that I teach people how to make videos to grow their business.
And there’s the internal problem.
“Internal problems are different. They’re usually in the back of our mind and we’re less aware of them” - Christy Wright.
For example, the internal problem that I solve is that a lot of people are intimidated and overwhelmed by making videos. So I teach how to do it in a fun and simple way that takes the overwhelm away. By the way, if YOU want to do that, then get my FREE training video and guide!
#4 Charge your value
I needed to hear this one! Because if you're like me, the whole money thing and charging people can be hard!
But, I love how Dave Ramsey put it. He said, “you solve their problem and they give you a certificate with an American president’s face on it.”
Christy Wright said, “don’t focus on what you get, focus on what you give. They’re going to pay you their hard-earned money because you solved a specific problem for them. But what’s so great is this is also the reason that you can find confidence in charging.”
#5 God created you on purpose with purpose
Sarah Jakes Roberts who’s a speaker and a pastor brought the house down when she said these key points that I love:
- When you use your gifts God gave you, the world is a better place.
- If God called you to it, he’s gonna see you through it.
- If you don’t put your business out there, then it can’t change the world.
#6 You are the only expert at being you
Sometimes it can be hard growing a personal brand online. There's imposter syndrome, the comparison game...all these things that mess with your head.
But I love what New York times best selling author, Amy Jo Martin says “you don’t brand yourself, you are yourself.” In other words, don’t be afraid about what others are gonna think about you. Just be who you authentically are!
#7 Everyone starts somewhere
Yup, everyone starts at a big fat 0. Zero followers. Zero subscribers. Zero money in their banking account. But the most successful people all started at zero.
I love what Jennifer Allwood and Emily Ley said, “It doesn’t matter how many followers or subscribers you have, just love them well.” So to my subscribers...have I told you lately, that I love you?
