Five specific repurposing tips that turn one video into 10 pieces of content across every platform
If you've ever felt like you need to be everywhere online but you simply don't have the time to create something new every single day β I hear you, and I've got great news. Content repurposing is the smartest strategy I know for showing up consistently without burning yourself out. I walk you through the whole thing step by step in the video below, so make sure you watch it!
Watch the Video Below:
Start With Your Foundational Content
Here's what I've learned after working with hundreds of entrepreneurs β the biggest mistake people make with content is trying to create something brand new for every single platform. That is exhausting and completely unnecessary.
Instead, you need one anchor piece of content that everything else flows from. I call this your authority-building platform, and it's either a YouTube channel or a podcast. That's your foundational content. Everything else we talk about today spins out from that one piece.
And here's a fun fact that surprises a lot of people β if you have a podcast, you absolutely should be posting it on YouTube too. Multiple research outlets have confirmed that YouTube is now the number one platform where people consume podcasts. More than Spotify. More than Apple Podcasts. YouTube. So if your podcast isn't on YouTube yet, you are genuinely leaving so much visibility on the table.
Tip 1
Blog Post
Okay, let's get into the actual tips. Tip number one is to turn your video into a blog post on your website. I know, I know β some of you just thought, "Patricia, I am not a blogger." And that's totally fine! This isn't about writing a brand new article from scratch. It's about taking what you already said in your video and turning it into written content that lives on your site.
Here's the part that makes this so powerful. Your blog post needs to be optimized for two things β and most people only know about one of them.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) β This is how Google finds your content. When you write a blog post with the right keywords, your content shows up in Google search results. And since YouTube is owned by Google, having both a video and a blog post on the same topic is like getting double the real estate on Google's search page.
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) β This is how AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Google's AI Overviews find and recommend your content. More and more people are typing their questions into AI instead of Google. When you have a well-written blog that AI can find and reference, that is next-level visibility for your business.
So yes, your blog post is non-negotiable. It is one of the most powerful things you can do with your video content.
Tip 2
An Email
Tip number two is to send your video to your email list. Your email list is your most valuable business asset β these are people who raised their hand and said, "Yes, I want to hear from you." If you're not emailing them every time you publish a new video, you are missing out on views, connection, and real business growth.
When you send an email about your new video, you're driving more YouTube views β which helps your video rank higher β and you're giving people a reason to watch even if they don't actively follow you on YouTube. It's a win-win every time.
Tip 3
Carousel Post
Tip number three is to turn your video into a carousel post. A carousel is one of those swipeable posts on Instagram where each slide contains a key tip or takeaway β like a mini slideshow. And right now, carousels are one of the highest-performing content types on Instagram.
Here's why they work so well β your YouTube video is probably packed with tips and key points, just like this one. Each tip becomes one slide in your carousel. One video, one carousel. That simple. Because people have to swipe through each slide, Instagram counts that as engagement, which means your post gets shown to even more people. And you can post carousels on Facebook and LinkedIn too!
Tip 4
Shorts and Reels
Tip number four is to turn your long-form video into multiple Shorts and Reels. One long-form video or podcast can easily become at least four short-form clips. My favorite way to do this quickly is by pasting your YouTube link into an AI editing tool that automatically clips it into multiple Shorts with captions already added. Tools like Descript, Captions, Opus Clips, and CapCut make this incredibly easy. If you want to see this in action, jump back up and watch the video above!
Short-form and long-form content actually work together beautifully. Shorts build your reach. Long-form videos build trust. Having both is golden. Post your Shorts on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, TikTok β pretty much everywhere.
Tip 5
Quote Graphic
Tip number five is to pull a quote or key takeaway from your video and turn it into a static quote graphic. But here's the trick that takes it even further β make a second slide that's a call to action, like a link to your freebie. That extra slide drives engagement and grows your email list at the same time.
This one is quick, easy, and people seriously underestimate how well it works. Take that one great sentence you said in your video, put it on a branded graphic in Canva, then add a CTA slide and a caption that drives people back to the full video or to your freebie. For Instagram, I love using ManyChat for call-to-action automation β it is a game changer.
Summary
So let's count it all up. Here's how one YouTube video or podcast becomes 10 pieces of content:
A blog post on your website (optimized for SEO and GEO)
1 email to your list
Carousel post shared across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
4 Shorts or Reels posted across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and more
2 static quote graphic posts with a CTA slide shared across all your platforms
That is 10 pieces of content from one single video. Pretty amazing, right?
The AI Video Team β Work Smarter, Not Harder
As an Emmy Award winner who has spent years in the video world, I can tell you β I used to do all of this manually. Every. Single. Week. I even had a VA working 20 hours a week just to help me with content repurposing. It was a lot.
So I built something to change that. I call it the AI Video Team β a system that does all of this for you automatically the moment you publish a YouTube video. Your blog post gets written and optimized for SEO and GEO inside WordPress. An email gets drafted inside Kit. Plus, your social content gets created. All without you lifting a finger.
In my experience working with hundreds of entrepreneurs, the biggest barrier to consistent content is time β not ideas, not skill, time. And this system solves that completely. Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be on every social media platform for content repurposing to work?
You don't have to be everywhere all at once! Start with the platforms where your audience already hangs out. The beauty of content repurposing is that once you create your content, it's easy to adapt it for multiple platforms without creating anything new. Pick two or three platforms to start, get comfortable, and expand from there. The important thing is that you have that foundational YouTube video or podcast doing the heavy lifting.
What is GEO and why does it matter for my blog post?
GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization, and it's how AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Google's AI Overviews discover and recommend your content when someone asks an AI a question. More and more people are searching using AI instead of traditional Google search, so optimizing your blog post for GEO β alongside traditional SEO β means your content can get found and recommended in both places. It's double the visibility, and it's one of the biggest opportunities right now for entrepreneurs who create content.
What tools can I use to turn my long-form video into Shorts automatically?
There are some fantastic AI tools that make this incredibly easy. My favorites include Descript, Captions, Opus Clips, and CapCut. Most of them let you simply paste in your YouTube link and the tool will automatically identify the best clips, cut them, and even add captions for you. It's honestly one of the best time-savers out there for video creators right now.
Content repurposing truly is the ultimate cheat code for showing up consistently online without burning yourself out. You've already done the hard work of creating your video β now let that one piece of content work overtime for you across every platform. Start with these five tips and watch how much your reach and visibility grow.
