So...why is adding subtitles so important?? Because get this: Facebook announced that 85% of people watch videos with the sound off! Which means if you don’t have subtitles in your video, they’re probably just going to scroll through and you're going to miss out on a lot of views.
In this blog and video (above), I'm gonna show you a couple easy ways on how to add subtitles to a video. One is free and one is budget friendly. Ready? Let's do this!
1. MixCaptions
The first app we’re going to use is called MixCaptions. I love how user-friendly it is. Plus, it’s super easy to add captions and format it so it fits your branding.
You can add subtitles on either your phone or your computer. Although, the price costs less if you use it on your phone. It's $5 for up to an hour’s worth of videos. So if your videos are about 5 minutes long, that’s 12 videos.

I love it because you can manually drag where you want your captions to be. Plus, you can put in the hex code so it matches your branding colors perfectly.
And the part that I absolutely love about MixCaptions is that you can download the SRT file. This is so great because you can use this for YouTube, for example, and upload it to your YouTube video. Just make sure you have the actual YouTube video into MixCaptions and not your IGTV version. (I did that by accident once. Oops!)
2. KAPWING
The second tool is called Kapwing which has a free version. They have paid options as well, but you can add subtitles to a video up to seven minutes long for free.

One of my favorite features is that there are a lot of different languages you can choose from for it to auto generate your captions. (Pretty cool!)
Plus, like MixCaptions, you can add your own branding style to it as well.
Now, the only downside is that only way to download the SRT file is by upgrading to the paid option which is $17 a month. So MixCaptions costs less if you need to download the SRT file.
